Nope. Not a rugby fan at all. But to be able to sit in a packed rugby stadium, and hear The Flower of Scotland being sung by tens of thousands of passionate Scottish rugby fans…. now that’s a different thing altogether.
Scotland against France in a warm-up test for the rugby world cup. That was our major mission for the day. And again, we tried to get there early enough, because, surely, the queues will be crazy. We really have to stop thinking that. We walked right through. The only question I was asked was what lens my camera had. If it was more than a 300mm lens, that would not be allowed.

The Flower of Scotland is actually not the official anthem of Scotland. There isn’t actually one. It seems that suggestions are being thrown around as to what the anthem should be. Auld Lang Syne is even in the bag of ones that might seem appropriate. Nonetheless, being able to hear the unofficial anthem of Scotland was very special.

The rest of the day was really spent navigating Edinburgh by bus. You can pretty much point you camera anywhere in Edinburgh, and be able to take a photograph of something beautiful, or weird even. That’s if you can see through the crowds, of course. But hey, we knew it would be ‘jumping’. The good thing is – just as you feel you have had enough of the crowds, you find a quiet spot that people seem to miss.

I’d really like to ask one thing of Edinburgh. Maps at the bus stops please. It’s great to be able to see all the buses that stop there, with the list of names where they have stopped, and will stop. But where those places are on the map, is often impossible to find.
