In the clear blue mountain view…

According to wikipedia, the distance between the extreme points of Croatia’s coastline is 526 km’s. You have some choices – you either don’t go as far South as Dubrovnik, or you have to have some days where you travel a bit more than others. Today was one of our longer traveling days.

Our destination today was Makarska. A large part of the drive was on the autostrada, which helps. And fortunately, the end-of-summer-holiday traffic was against us. The only slight downside was the rain, but we did enjoy the cooler weather. We are rather pleased that we are back at the coast. And even more impressed about the surrounding mountains.

Our accommodation sits quite high up on the hill (mountain, really) behind Makarska. In fact, the road leading up to the accommodation is so steep, that the wheels of the car kept on spinning. To the point that the smallest of scooters overtook us up the hill.

We took a stroll through Makarska’s old town. It really is a quaint little town. We did however feel that we would much rather be sitting on our balcony and watch the sunset. This was followed by a lovely lightening show.

Some days you just need to see things from afar….
