This entry is part 7 of 16 in the series Port, with a touch of Paella - Portugal 2015

I’m super excited today. I get to tick an item on my bucket list. And whilst it is not quite the right place for what I’m about to see, at least I can be assured that I will see them. Puffins!

We figured that the train would be the best way to get to Lisbon, and we would start with the Lisbon Oceanarium. I figured we would not need to spend too much time there, seeing that we recently spent some time at the Cape Town Aquarium. I was wong. Besides spending lots of time watching the awkward way the puffins waddle around, we also spent lots of time watching sunfish, devil fish, barracudas and many other fascinating species.

At first, taking photographs of the fish was almost a hopeless case, but once we allowed the cameras to rather take control, we had so much fun that we hardly wanted to leave.

Next we figured out how the underground works, and made our way to the Alfama region. Lisbon is a rather busy city, and very quickly we made our way to the Baixa region, a region that looked just a little less shady, but after having a beer on one of the quieter squares, we decided to head back to Sintra for supper.

When we planned our trip, we originally planned to stay in Sintra for three nights, but once we realised how much there is to see here, we figured that we would allow for an extra day, and decide whether we would need to see more of Sintra, or Lisbon. My bets were on Sintra. I was wrong, again.
