The Problem’s Plain to See…

It often takes something as mundane as spring cleaning to remind you of stuff that you once treasured or loved. Finding some old Vinyls in a random closet recently, reminded me of how I used to enjoy the music of Styx. Especially their Killroy was here album.

That’s really what I do, though. I solve problems with technology. And I really love my job. In fact, it’s really more like a hobby. But at times, I need to break away from it a little. And the best place to do that is in Europe. It’s so first-world. And yet it has such a rich and well-preserved history. It somehow brings you back to being human again.

It took us a while to settle on the itenerary. It started with a Trafalgar tour that will visit the so-called Bohemian cities. Berlin, Warsaw, Krakow, Budapest, Vienna and Prague. And because the planets were aligning themselves so kindly, I have been able to come up with the best possible birthday gift for Niel. A Roger Waters concert in Warsaw. On his birthday. What more can a Pink Floyd fan wish for? But we also wanted to spend some time on our own little mission. This changed from Amsterdam and Bruges, to France, to Switzerland. In the end it was music that once again settled it for us. A Neil Young concert in Dresden. And while I’m by no means a fan of his out-of-tune so-called angelic voice, I know that Neil would always regret not seeing him, knowing he had a fairly good chance, so Germany it is then, A few lazy days in Dresden, before we move onto Kassel for another concert. Or rather, a Concerto. Joshua Bell performing Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto. Probably one of the most beautiful classical works you could possibly find! And then, a quick visit to Köln. If you are close, you may as well go see that massive cathedral. And finally, to Frankfurt, where the Trafalgar tour will begin.

We set off tomorrow evening. I cannot wait to feel human again!
